Heritages and Museums

Museo del Tesoro shows the origins, techniques and art of metals and precious stones of Bolivia. The purpose of the museum is to inform and educate but, most of all, is to generate genuine and pleasant sensations to the visitor.

Museum of Indigenous Art ASUR consists of a reception room and 9 exhibition rooms. Also, weavers can be seen giving live demonstrations of the techniques used in the creation of their textile designs.

The Gran Poder House has been owned by the Pontifical University of San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca since 1957. However, the Charcas Colonial Museum dates back to 27 May 1939, when it was founded on initiative of the Athenaeum of Chuquisaca Fine Arts. It is now one of the country’s most important museums.

The MUSEF Sucre Museum of Ethnography and Folklore, is the regional version of the National MUSEF in La Paz. The MUSEF was established by the Banco Central de Bolivia Cultural Foundation. The MUSEF houses artifacts from some of the ancient native indigenous peoples of the area.
